What a time to be alive! It’s crazy out there. Layoffs are everywhere, and even if you personally haven’t been impacted, it feels like we’re all sitting on quicksand and no one is safe. So what should you do?

Layoffs are everywhere, and even if you personally haven’t been impacted, it feels like we’re all sitting on quicksand and no one is safe.

So what should you do?

Gen Z is doing it, and you should too. In the words of Justin Welsh, “You should damn sure be building something of your own on the side”. Insulate your career by thinking outside the confines of your 9-5; build your moat. 

To be clear, I’m not saying quit your day job (not yet, anyway). I’m saying lean into that side project, write that newsletter, pitch a speaking engagement. Start making moves to make yourself a personal brand that can stay afloat with or without a day job - become a multihyphenate.
