I’ve been thinking a lot about the art of starting things this week. Why is it so hard to go from idea-in-my-head to actually-doing-it?

I’ve been thinking a lot about the art of starting things this week. Why is it so hard to go from idea-in-my-head to actually-doing-it? I speak from experience - I’ve had this very newsletter in my mind for months before getting it out in the world 😳 

The story we tell ourselves is that we don’t have time. That we’re too busy. But that feels too simple to be true. Is it time or is it impostor syndrome that keeps us from pressing play? Or even Gambler’s Fallacy? 

What I’m learning to accept is that the first thing you make is going to be bad. But you can’t get to the 100th until you do the first. And everything gets easier after the first go. 

Just remember: it’s not that brave and successful people don’t feel the fear. They feel the fear and then do it anyway. 

Just something to think about when you’re trying to talk yourself into doing the thing ❤️
